Kinds of brushes

"You will need five kinds of brushes and each kind has to be used for specific and complementary aims...
1. The flat square brush is used exceptionally in “sub painting” for covering, applying and priming....
2. DThe round short brush you should use for “up-painting”. It is then you need a fine brush from bristles of a sable… The finer the glazing you want to achieve, the softer brushes you will need...
3. With the long thin brushes, to an inch and a half long, you will be able to use exceptionally liquid mixtures, at the end of painting.
4. The fan brush from bristles of a badger has a complementary function. You have to work ghostly lightly with it.
5. The brush for dots you have to use only with surfaces which you want to remain mercilessly uniform – skies or architectural shapes, which have to be smoothed for long and many times..."
